Thesis Title: 'Histories of Community': Irthlingborough, 1880-2010
About
I am a PhD student at the University of Northampton, UK. My research is examining the ‘histories of community’ in a small town in East Northamptonshire in the UK. I am using a combination of archival records, personal papers and oral history interviews to understand the social construction, experience and symbolism of a sense of community in Irthlingborough, East Northamptonshire, from the late nineteenth century to present day.
In addition to my PhD studies, I am working as a Research Associate for the Manchester Centre for Regional History at Manchester Metropolitan University (http://www.mcrh.mmu.ac.uk/).
I obtained my BA and MA in History from the University of Leeds and I worked on a variety of community history and oral history projects prior to starting my PhD.
